The Hass variety is not yet widely consumed in Brazil due to its high prices in the domestic market, and is sometimes imported from Chile. Production has been increasing rapidly with a greater number of producers interested in the crop.
The fruit is small compared to other Brazilian varieties such as Margarida, Fortuna, Breda or Fortuna, it lasts much longer after harvest, which makes maritime exports viable.
The avocado crop is expected to surpass bananas in global market value in a short period of time.
